Sitting in the hotel room, I wondered what the day was going to bring. The plan; get to the airport by 2:00 p.m., check in and find lunch. A shuttled was reserved for 1:30 p.m.
I woke up just before 6:00 a.m. and finished the blog for day one. Around 8:00 a.m. we threw on our clothes and went to breakfast. It was pretty good considering it was the complimentary breakfast buffet. The rest of the morning was very relaxing reading and packing. We checked out and caught the shuttle as planned.
Once there, we checked our luggage and headed to security. I would say it was a breeze due to all of us being TSA PreCheck but there were a couple of small hiccups. I breezed right through the metal detector with no problems. Mom got dinged for a random check and Linda had to be patted down due to the metal in her hip.
Lunch was the next order of business so we headed to our gate and had a delicious meal at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant in the terminal. After lunch we made ourselves comfortable. My only concern was the seat assignments we had been given the night before. They were not together. As soon as the gate representative appeared, I jumped up for her assistance. Somehow she was able to work some magic and moved Mom’s seat so the she was next to me.
The plane took off on time and we were finally on our way to Amsterdam. Dinner was served and we were able to get a glass of wine to go with our meal. Desert was salted caramel ice cream. It was the hit of the meal. With the light lowered, we settled in for the “night.”
