After breakfast, Mary Ellen and I quickly ran across the street to the shopping area for a few last minute gifts. While there, we bumped into Sandy. She had tried to see the church next to the hotel, but it was closed again. On the way back to the hotel, we paused for a picture moment at the town heart.
Back at the hotel, we packed up for the next leg of the journey. It was our last leg. We headed back to Reykjavik. I pulled the van around to the front of the hotel, we packed up, and headed to the airport. It was a five minute drive.

We approached the airport but did not see where to return the van. I then saw a few rows of cars with different rental car companies' names on poles. After parking in the EuropCar spot, we found an employee who took the keys. I wanted to talk to someone about a problem but the young man said it was a very long line and gave me the email address for customer service. We entered a very tiny airport with only ONE gate! After checking in our suitcases, we sat in the tiny lounge waiting for our flight.

The afternoon activities included lunch at the Grandi Matholl Food Hall and then checking out The Icelandic Phallological Museum. The museum is a very interesting place. The entrance is through a bar and when you pay the entrance fee, you are given a coupon for 10% off drinks which you are allowed to take with you while you peruse the museum. The museum has some interesting exhibits. Learning how animals procreated appealed to me most. They displayed examples of animal phallus and gave information on their mating practices. The exhibits covered large animals such as whales, walruses and seals down to the very small all the way to hamsters and gerbils. It also exhibits past cartoons and objects created in this shape. It is a very unique museum to visit. |
