It has been over a year since the Summer Traveler Club has been able to travel. Last year we planned an awesome trip to Portugal but that had to be postponed. We considered doing it this year, but no-one in the group felt secure in doing any air travel at this time. So, we have put this trip on hold until next year hopefully.
Still wanting to get away, we decided to stay closer to home. Linda H suggested Asheville, North Carolina which we all agreed was a wonderful suggestion. Everyone was very interested in seeing the Biltmore and its gardens. We also discussed several other things of interest in the area and felt this would be a wonderful excursion that could be driven in a short amount of time. We could take two cars, one leaving from the north of the James River and the other from the south. We then realized that the ladies from the south of the river all have the same first name. I guess we can call it the Linda car. Our trip planning usually requires several meetings but since it was already the end of May, had to plan very quickly. On the first meeting, we chose the dates and booked the hotel for the week. By the second meeting, our tour for the Biltmore was booked and a list of suggested things to see and do had been complied. We have decided to visit the Botanical Gardens at Ashville, the Grove Arcade and take a tour of the French Broad Chocolate Factory on our first full day but this is subject to change. We will also be taking a Waterfall tour, visiting Grovewood Village Historic Site, reaching the top of Chimney Rock in Chimney Rock State Park, and visiting many areas for shopping. We hope you will come along on this journey. Each day as I post to this site, the button on the left will change color to let you know the page is complete. Feel free to leave comments or email us with questions as we travel. |
